We are a group of physical chemists and biophysicists that study a broad range of biophysical topics, with a special interest in fast structural motions during different events in folding, binding, and function. Utilizing and developing an assortment of both laser spectroscopic techniques and traditional spectroscopies, we aim to provide detailed mechanistic insight into how biological molecules adopt their native conformations and interact, from the fastest events in structural changes to the interactions involved in recognition, aggregation, and protein function.

Additionally, the group also works on magnetism and energy dissipation in small molecules. The process of energy dissipation occurring in small molecules found in desert lichens can possibly reveal secrets to "Life on Mars" or "early Earth" where harsh UV conditions are present or persisted. Molecular magnets are important for quantum information science with several applications. Come join the fun!
